Mr.
Matt Kamps Principal, Math 5-8
Mr.
Kamps joined the Everett Christian School as principal
this year. He grew up in Lynden, Washington, but
comes to us most recently from teaching with his wife at
Academia Los Pinares in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He has served in Christian schools in
Honduras and Ellensburg, Washington. Mr. Kamps is
devoted to an educational program that keeps Christ in
the center of every student's life, of every subject
taught, every activity engaged in and every decision
made.

Mr. Dan
Davelaar - 5-8th grade Science, Bible, Physical Ed,
Art, 5-6th grade Social Studies
Mr. Davelaar joined
Everett Christian School in 1992 and consistently
demonstrates his ability to help students achieve
extraordinary results. He believes students should
be actively involved in the learning process and each
student needs to be held accountable to use their class
time wisely and get their school work completed. Mr.
Davelaar helps students learn the practical side of time
management by teaching them to track their own
assignments through the use of tools like a visual
assignment board. He likes to encourage kinesthetic
learning in the classroom by running team contests and
games when possible and tailors his classroom
assignments in multi-layers to meet the various levels
of ability in a given group. Mr. Davelaar has two
daughters, whom attended Everett Christian School, and lives in Marysville
with his wife.

Mrs. Cheryl
DeJong - 3-4th grade Language Arts, Social Studies,
Physical Ed, Technology
Mrs. DeJong has been teaching at Everett Christian
School since 1989 and has helped to create a family
atmosphere enabling the best out of her students. Mrs.
DeJong enjoys the close relationships she has been able to
establish with her students and places a great deal of
emphasis on academic excellence. Her experience in
education has taught her that as a teacher you have to
want to learn yourself in order to teach. Mrs. DeJong
wants each student to develop a servants attitude in
their relationship with peers, using Christ's ultimate
servant life as the example. In class, students are
encouraged to be veracious readers and critical thinkers
- learning reading and writing skills through novel
units and Writing Northwest. Mrs. DeJong is also the
N.I.L.D Director for ECS. Mrs. DeJong lives in Marysville
with her husband and has three daughters whom all
attended Everett Christian School. |

Ms.
Rachel DeJong - 1-2nd grade
Ms. DeJong joined Everett Christian School in 1999
and enjoys the supportive and encouraging staff at the
school. The level of caring demonstrated by the staff
transfers to her students as Ms. DeJong works on the foundations
to
develop the whole child. She works to incorporate
Christ in every aspect of her teaching and emphases the
need for students to know their faith needs to affect
every part of their lives - faith is not just for Sunday.
Ms. DeJong uses a variety of teaching styles in the
classroom to help each child succeed in a loving and
accepting learning environment. She has
implemented numerous learning centers
to help her students learn in ways that don't require
pencil and paper. Ms. DeJong encourages parents to
consider the heart of the teacher when they send their
child to school - where the heart is, so to the head
goes. Ms. DeJong lives in Everett. |

Mrs. Carol Haveman - Kindergarten
Mrs. Haveman joined Everett Christian School in 1995 and
moved into the position of Kindergarten teacher in 1998.
Mrs. Haveman creates an atmosphere
of inclusion for her students adapting teaching methods to meet
the individual students need. Every child is at a
different developmental level when they enter school -
Mrs. Haveman works with each children to build a
solid foundation in fundamental learning. In Kindergarten,
Mrs. Haveman feels it is important to start with some
very basic things like working with others, listening,
obeying rules, and being respectful to others - teaching
these lessons through music and stories in the
classroom. Mrs. Haveman leverages innovative programs
like Book Buddies to create a sense of excitement for
students. Mrs. Haveman lives with her husband in Marysville and all
three of
her children are Everett Christian School graduates.

Mrs.
Elaine Jenkins - 5-8th grade Language Arts, 7-8th
grade Social Studies
Mrs. Jenkins is a driving force for high academic
standards in the middle grades at Everett Christian
School. Mrs. Jenkins teaches
innovative curriculum like Writing Northwest and Readers
Workshop to students ensuring each student has the
opportunity to reach their potential. She believes that
ALL children are capable of success by exploring their
individual learning styles, God-given talents and by
setting high, achievable standards for all her students.
Mrs. Jenkins is a participating member on the Executive
Committee of Northwest Christian Schools International.
She lives in Everett with her husband and
three children, who all currently attend ECS. |

Mrs.
Marjo VandenBosch - Pre-Kindergarten Director
Mrs. VandenBosch is our Pre-Kindergarten
director, working in the classroom with the
pre-kindergarten students to build the skills critical
to success in later years. She is a specialist in
early childhood development and provides a caring and
supportive framework for children to begin to develop
their academic curiosity. Mrs. VandenBosch lives
in Marysville with her husband Gary, an ECS graduate,
and her children who have attended or currently attend
ECS. |

Mrs.
Irene Van Kooten - 3-4th grade Science, Math, Bible,
Art
Mrs. Van Kooten teaches
3rd and 4th grade in the afternoon, including Bible,
math and science and Art. Mrs. Van Kooten
believes in the development of the whole child to
fulfill their purpose according to God's plan for their
life. She works with each child to stretch them to
achieve their personal best focusing on the child on
their areas of strength. |
